The working of biofloc system can be explained briefly as follows: Heterotrophic bacteria is the main component of the biofloc system. The heterotrophic bacteria consumes the nitrogenous waste (ammonia) produced by the fish and inturn converts them into protein which can be used for the growth of the fish itself.
